Five Warning Lights Your Car Needs You to Respond to Right Away

Do dashboard warning lights make you a bit queasy? You’re not alone. Most car owners aren’t thrilled to see warning lights pop up on the dashboard. Clark’s Professional Car Care wants you to know about which warning lights you absolutely cannot ignore.

Tire Pressure Light

Tire pressure is crucial in keeping your tires in good working order and in keeping the engine working at its best, too. By the time your car’s tire pressure light comes on, you may have already lost 10 to 15 percent of the air from your tires. Air loss of less than 10 percent can be a problem, so by the time you see a warning light, you definitely need to respond immediately.

Battery Light

Your car’s battery is crucial for starting your car. It can be tough to know for sure that you’re having battery trouble at times. One surefire way to know that something isn’t right is to see either the battery light or another light related to electrical issues, like the alternator light for example.

Temperature Warning Light

Your car’s engine creates a lot of heat, that’s why the manufacturer includes a few different ways to keep the engine cool in the whole system. If any of those ways fails, however, that creates a big problem for the engine and it can start overheating. Some of those issues cause overheating gradually, others can cause catastrophic heating immediately. If you see the temperature warning light, you have a problem.

Check Engine Light

One shocking warning light is the check engine light. The part that car owners forget is that some small issues can cause the check engine light to turn on that don’t necessarily mean that engine failure is imminent. Ignoring that light is never an option, however. If you see the check engine light at all, it needs to be investigated thoroughly.

Brake Light

The brake light lets you know that the parking brake is engaged, but it’s also there to let you know when the car’s computer has detected a problem in the brake system. If you see that light turn on when you’re driving, you may also experience difficulty with your brakes. It’s never a good idea to play guessing games with your brakes, so respond right away to any sign of brake trouble.
